Baby Corn, Broccoli in Garlic Sauce

Broccoli is a odd-tasting relatives of cabbage and cauliflower which are much more common and easily available in India. Kids really don't like them much, which might be because of their smell and bitter taste. But believe me, the more bitter they taste, the better they are for you. The nutrition scientists know that broccoli, and all of its bitter-tasting mates are rich in minerals, fibre and various vitamins.

So, I thought of combining this evil with a beauty. Aah, please dont take me wrong, this combination of baby corn and broccoli tastes as good as it sounds. And kids will simply jump to eat it.

So, here we go.

Ingredients
1 cup blanched broccoli florets
1 cup sliced baby corn
2 tsp finely chopped ginger (adrak)
2 tsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1/2 cup tomato puree
2 tsp cornflour dissolved in 1/2 cup of water
A pinch of sugar, optional (to balance all this different tastes, but if yo like strong smell and taste sugar can be avoided)
2 tbsp oil
salt to taste

Method
Heat the oil in a wok over a high flame, add the ginger, garlic and green chillies and stir-fry for a few seconds.
Add the baby corn and broccoli.
Cook for few minutes.
Add the tomato puree and mix well.
Add the cornflour mixture, salt and cook for few minutes.
As I suggested earlier if you like, add a pinch of sugar.

Wallah!! we are done. Serve hot.

  1. Hello! I made this tonight and it turned out to be really yummy. I added 1 yellow and 1 red bell pepper as well. It was a pretty simple dish to cook as well, and I should know because I don't really have much experience in the culinary department. Thanks for the recipe!
