Calorie Free Daal
Few of my Calorie conscious friends inspired me to change the way I cook Daal. This daal is simple, easy-to-make! Unlike the traditional method of making dal using loads of oil or ghee. Moong dal is superhero of this recipe. It is a storehouse of nutrients like protein, calcium, iron, zinc etc, so relish your meal with this guilt-free, nutritious dal and rice and ward off all your worries of putting on those extra kilos.
Ingredients
1/2 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
1/4 cup chopped onions
1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
1 tsp grated ginger (adrak)
2 to 3 green chillies, slit
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
salt to taste
4 cloves of garlic (lehsun), unpeeled
Method
1.Clean, wash and soak the dal for 15 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
2.Combine all the ingredients, except the garlic, along with the 1 cup of water and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
3.Allow the steam to escape before opening and whisk the dal well. Keep aside.
4.Pierce 2 garlic cloves on a fork and roast them on an open flame till they turn black.
5.Repeat to roast 2 more garlic cloves.
6.Peel, crush and add to the dal. Mix well.
7.Serve hot.
